B Lab EU: Hi! Tell us briefly who you are and what your company does.
Hatched: Hatched is an advisory firm that helps organisations take the purposeful path through impact strategy. Just recently we also released ROOY an impact measurement platform, which enables organisations to measure, manage and demonstrate outcomes. We tend to work with the most progressive, purposeful organisations and help them sail and do things differently. A lot of the time our work results in organisations being ready for B Corp certification or enabling them to prepare for re-certification. We are set to open our European office in early 2020.
B Lab EU: Why did you decide to become a B Corp?
Hatched: Prior to starting Hatched I worked at Suncorp which is a large bank and insurer in Australia. I had formed a strategic partnership with B Lab Australia and NZ when it first started in the region. Given my close connection to the movement it was logical that I set up an organisation that helped support organisations to scale their impact. We became a B Corp because, for us, it wasn’t an option to run a business without being a B Corp.
B Lab EU: What does being a B Corp mean to you?
Hatched: For us its helps guide our business growth and enables us to use it as a strategy tool to improve our business and our clients. It also enables us to collaborate with other purpose-driven businesses. We have helped set up ‘Byron To Bundy’ which is a B Local in our region and it has given us a platform to bring together like minded people and inspire others to take the path.
B Lab EU: Have you seen business benefits of being a B Corp?
Hatched: Yes, but the real benefit for us is peace of mind, that we are doing the right thing in running our business. This makes me as a founder able to sleep well at night.
B Lab EU: What are you looking forward to most about the 2019 Summit?
Hatched: Given our new European presence, I am looking forward to being inspired by other businesses who are doing good, seeing some old friends, and most of all feeling that B Corp buzz at the event. There is nothing like it.
